Someone Got an F in Bomb-Making
Posted by Michael Cohen
So it turns out that I was probably a little too quick last night in dismissing the international elements of the failed Times Square bombing - or even the potential involvement of Pakistani Taliban. But I think I was pretty on the mark when it comes to the question of competence:
Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad told interrogators that he received training in bomb making during a recent five-month trip to Pakistan, according to a senior U.S. official familiar with the matter.
One really has to wonder how the syllabus for Bomb-Making 101 left off "use explosive fertilizer" when constructing an incendiary device. I don't mean to dismiss the threat that this attack represents. After all I live in New York City and I'm too familiar with the tragedy of international terrorism. But it's ever so slightly reassuring that if this guy did receive training in bomb-making . . this is the best he could come up with.
By the way, we've now seen two terrorist plots in the past few months tied to an Afghan and now a Pakistani. At what point do we start to seriously debate Don Rumsfeld's interrogatory more seriously - are we creating more terrorists than we're killing?

Very informative article. Greatly discussed, love to read that. Actually I love to read articles and blogs which are sharing something different information. Neither conventional war nor counter-terrorism will achieve anything by themselves against an insurgency.
