Looking on the bright side of an Iraqi Civil War

We usually avoid this sort of thing here, by I couldn't help myself when Chris Borgen over at Opinio Juris sent me a link to a post there by Kevin Jon Heller.
I'm sure they were thoughtful enough to ask some Iraqis while they were at it.

The Democratic leadership are cowards and scoundrels. That they have not articulated positions on Iraq that distinguish themselves from the GOPigs (save Murtha, though his "over the horizon" stupidy still raises questions about Alzheimers) is a pathetic reflection of their slavish devotion to the corrupting influences of the military-industrial complex. Fools like Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi suckle from the MIC teat every bit as much as DeLay and the GOPigs.
Every single day the only message coming from Democratic yaps should be a growing clamor to bring criminal charges against Bush, Cheney, Rummy and scores of other corrupt, immoral, hypocritical GOPigs. They don't even have to specify at this point what the criminal charges are (crimes against humanity are obvious), but simply force debate onto the criminality of these slimebags who have hijacked America (with the help of the MSM and legions of friggin' moron/slaves who worship the boob tube.) Force the criminals to constantly have to deny charges of corruption, immorality, lying and killing puppies. Why not use innuendo, cynical manipulation of "facts" and just plain old appeals to common decency against these slimebags that are destroying America and the world? It's time to take off the gloves. Every democratic Member of Congress should be calling Bush and Cheney criminals and calling for full investigations of every aspect of their lives, their businesses and other dealings.
This caption by the pigs at FOX is a perfect testimony to the immoral criminals who run the network and toady to their GOPig masters. They deserve nothing less then a slow, painful death by lethal injection (or, for entertainment value, slow insertion into a woodchipper on prime-time PBS.)

The great thing about democracy is that everyone has a voice. The problem with democracy is that everyone has a voice.
The problem with Dems isn't so much that they make a lame Congressional opposition. The problem is that they can't win elections. Our system of government does not facilitate a opposition-type politics like parliamentary systems. Our system of government relies on consensus and deal-making. Our constitution and the processes in Congress simply cannot handle prolonged contentious antagonistic political parties.
In this info/media age, we have blurred the line between politics and government. The Bush administration, by word and in deed, has pretty much erased that line. That's bad for Dems but worse for our country. We should all be looking to see whether our beloved representative democratic system of government can remain effective in the future.

Public financing of ALL political campaigns. The argument that large donations constitute free speech are foisted corporate/monied interests seeking to keep the scam going. Money must be taken out of politics if our system is to ever again become representative of anyone but greedy, mainly white jerks.
